Dress Code

One is never over-dressed or under-dressed with a Little Black Dress.

- Karl Lagerfeld

The ambience of the UUSC is what makes it such a special place. Members are asked at all times to consider the comfort and convenience of other members and to preserve the ambience of the Club so that all members may enjoy being there.

Members are responsible for making their Guests aware of the above provisions at the time they enter the Clubhouse and Health Club.

Some specific aspects of expected behaviour in the Bent Street Clubhouse are as follows

Dress Standards

Members are asked to ensure that they and their guests comply with the Club’s dress standards.

What is it? Jackets do not need to be worn in the Bar or Billiards room (although they are preferred) -in the Dangar Room they are still obligatory. What is not permitted? No denim, commercial advertising, shoes without socks or sports footwear.

Gentlemen are required to wear “coat and tie” on Level 1 and 2 of the Club. What is it? Suit and tie for gentlemen, with ladies required to dress accordingly, (dress or slack suit). What is not permitted? Same guidelines as Modern Professional.

Residents may wear casual attire upon entering or leaving the Club.

No Photography

Members and their guests are not permitted to use cameras or mobile phones to take photographs within any area of the Clubhouse. This includes private functions.

Mobile Phones

Members and Guests are required to switch their mobile phones off or to silent mode when entering the Clubhouse and Health Club. The ringing of mobile phones or the carrying on of conversations on mobile phones are strictly prohibited at any time.

Members and guests are permitted to look at their smartphones and tablets to access diaries or check messages. There are two dedicated booths provided on the ground floor of the Clubhouse for Members to make outgoing telephone calls.

Children must be under the supervision of an adult at all times.  Children under 12 are not permitted in the public areas of the Club without the prior approval of the Secretary.

Large Bags
